Music for Advent II captures something of that air of anticipation that is Advent. Like the first recording, some of the songs are very familiar (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel); others were written for this very recording (Bethlehem, Make Ready). All advance the themes of the Advent season: prophecy, anticipation, annunciation. The recording includes Gregorian chant from the Middle Ages of the Western Church and Carpatho-Rusyn chant from the Slavic Byzantine Church. An outstanding selection of songs from the African-American Church experience and other new hymns round out the collection.
