Interest in praying some form of morning and evening prayer although not the Roman Office itself is surging. Given this growing interest and growing experimentation, this study offers framers of new forms of communal prayer a clear understanding of the riches of this prayer tradition as well as an honest evaluation of its weaknesses.
Stanislaus Campbell, F.S.C., is currently director of novices for the West Coast Province of the De La Salle Christian Brothers. He has taught in his congregation's secondary schools and at the college level. He holds a doctorate in liturgy from the University of Notre Dame.
