Proper 28Bby Linda KraftLet us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs. Righteous God, you have claimed us as your own people, delivered us through the waters of baptism and written our names in your book of life. We pray for those who do not know the freeing power of your Good News. Give us the wisdom to share your Word with all people and lead us to graciously welcome everyone you have made as they seek to know you through us. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Daniel 12:1-3) Great Protector, you give refuge to those who live in fear. We pray for your counsel to guide leaders of all nations that they may resolve their differences and endeavor to live in peace. We remember especially your children whose families are torn in conflict anywhere people live in fear for their lives. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Psalm 16) Our great High Priest, you offered your son, Jesus, for our everlasting salvation. You have tried to write your law of love in our hearts. Yet we persist in showing preference for some of your children and prejudice against others. Forgive us for turning away from your teachings. Open a new and living way for us so that our hearts may be made clean and we can live together with all your people in love. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Hebrews 10:11-25) Healer of all, our Lord Jesus has told us to expect trials and troubles, but he has promised your presence through whatever is to come. We know people who are facing difficult choices, whose health fails and who seem lost. Be present with these, your children: Are there others we should include in our prayers? Remind us that your eternal salvation is stronger than anything that threatens to shake our world. Embrace within your loving arms all who suffer. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Mark 13:1-8) Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
