Prayers for Worship
by David von Schlichten

Call to Worship

Leader: Alleluia, Christ is alive! The cross is empty, the tomb is empty.
People: Do not doubt but believe.
Leader: The Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, pours love upon us like oil.
People: Our Lord and our God! Alleluia!

Invocation

Source of faith, we exalt you for the resurrection of Christ. When our doubt takes control of our hearts, fill us with the assurance that your devotion to us is invincible. In the name of our crucified and risen Savior we pray. Alleluia! Amen.

Prayer of Confession

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Jesus, you are alive. You are with us for all eons to come and beyond. We believe; help our unbelief. How easy it is for us to hit an ice berg; how easy it is for us to sink. Save us. Forgive us. Keep us Good Friday/Easter focused throughout the year. Heal us. Hold us. Lead us. Yes.

Words of Assurance

Christ lives. Your sins are no match for God’s grace. The blood of Jesus cleanses you. You walk in the light. Believe, even though you have not seen. Alleluia!

Prayer of Inspiration

Holy Spirit, teach us to receive your power through the Word. Yes.
