Prayers for Worship
by David von Schlichten
Leader: We humans often mistake evil for good and vice versa.
People: God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Leader: teach us to live according to the one true Spirit, never a house divided.
People: We are all family members through Christ.
Holy Spirit, strengthen our resolve against slithering Satan. Let us never lose heart, and humble us to live as the family we are. In the name of our Sibling Savior we pray according to the will of the Eternal Parent. Amen.
Leader: Out of the depths we cry to you, O LORD. If you were to keep count of our sins, we wouldnt stand a chance.
People: In our fallen confusion, we are hasty to praise Beelzebul and reject the Holy Spirit.
Leader: Trying to be equal to you, we listen to serpent-lies.
People: We are quick to lose heart, thinking that these are the worst of times, hopeless.
Leader: We slip into sibling rivalry and dysfunction with our fellow Christians.
People: For the sake of Christ, redeem us.
Leader: Yes. Amen.
With the LORD there is plenteous redemption. Morning has arrived. Because of Christ, God forgives you all your sins. You shall live in Paradise. Hallelujah!
Spirit of Christ, through the Word, lead us to live the God-union.
We exalt you, God, for blessing the Church, for protecting us against the Lord of the Flies. Continue to tutor us on how to reject Satan and not turn on each other. Our souls (congregational response: confidently watch for you.).
We thank you for the apostle Barnabus and other Church pioneers, including the Cappadocians and Macrina. Help us to be pioneers of love according to your will. Our souls, . . .
You have blessed us with a rich flag representing a nation devoted to freedom and to helping others. May we honor the flag, not making an idol of it, but regarding it as a symbol of our nations holiest ideals. Our souls, . . .
You are generous with healing. Touch everyone in need [Add names], and direct our hands to serve our siblings. Our souls, . . .
(You may add other praises and petitions here...)
We know you will shape our prayers into loving acts. In the name of the Messiah we pray. Amen.
May our offering help to heal fractures and strengthen bonds. Amen.
Leader: We are children of Adam and Eve, but more important is that we are children of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
People: Use us to rescue others from the Evil One. Yes!
