Welcome and Announcements-- (Please sign the attendance pads)

Flute Prelude

Opening Song #544 "Like The Murmur of the Dove's Song"

Call to Worship:

Death, failure, fear, and all works of evil have been defeated in Easter, for Christ is risen!

C: God reigns supreme in creation, absolute in power, merciful in forgiveness, and gracious in love.

Let us come to worship willing to be open before God in the totality of who we are: a people of achievement and failure, of faith and doubt, of joy and sorrow.

We come with humility, need, and expectancy, to praise and worship the one who calls and receives us, the one who lifts up the fallen, restores hope to the disconsolate, and strengthens the weak.

*Opening Song #312 "Hail the Day that Sees Him Rise"

*INVOCATION

Covenanting God, we worship you for your faithfulness to your people throughout the ages, your faithfulness to us in our generation. We give you thanks and praise for the evidence of the depth of your active caring for your creation, for the victory won over sin and death in the risen Christ. In this time of celebration we offer our lives anew to Christ Jesus, that he might reign in sovereign power in us his disciples, and in the church. Make us faithful to him and for him, we pray.

*The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever. Amen

*Assurance of Pardon

Though we fail countless times, God does not fail or forsake us. God comes to all who sorrow for sin, to forgive and restore, to love, and to strengthen for the living of a transformed life by the power of the indwelling Christ. Thanks be to God!

*Act of Praise (to #312 "Hail the Day…")

Praise to the Father, Spirit, Son, Alleluia!

praise to Christ, the Living Word, Alleluia!

in eternal hope we rise, Alleluia!

in Christ Jesus made alive, Alleluia!

Responsive Reading -- Psalm 150

All: "Alleluia! Praise to you!"

L: Praise God!

praise God in the sanctuary;

praise God in the heavens;

praise God's mighty achievements;

praise God's transcendent greatness

All: "Alleluia! Praise to you!"

L: Praise with blasts of the trumpet;

praise with the lyre and harp;

praise with drums and dancing;

praise with the strings and horns;

praise with the cymbals,

with loud clashing cymbals!

let everything that breathes

praise God!

All: "Alleluia! Praise to you!"

Personal Prayers in Silence

"Hear My Words" (see Insert)

Loving God, as we leave the empty tomb behind to go on with our lives, be with and keep us ever aware of that death no longer has control of our lives. Teach us each day the lesson of the risen Christ that we are free to face our future unafraid because Jesus goes before us and beside us. Help us know that we have a friend in Jesus who helps us brave the fiercest storm and climb the highest peaks. Bring us closer to you and to the Kingdom which you promise all who call believe and follow. Amen

Prayer of Dedication

Redeeming God, since we have failed to be a caring and sharing people, there is great sin, suffering, fear, and need in the earth. You have acted to restore us to new possibility, raising up Christ to remain among us with healing power, equipping us in the gift of the Holy Spirit to share in your victory. Receive, bless, and use these gifts and us for your reclaiming purposes. Amen

*Hymn #17 "The Spring Has Come" (see insert)

*Commissioning:

L: Let us go out to do our ministry, willing to risk, and to face the reality of failure as part of living our life in this world. But let us go with the certain knowledge that the Christ of Easter is with us in victorious power, to love, to forgive, and to speak peace in our souls.

*Benediction:

The blessing of God, the creative word, the undefeated Christ, and the encouraging Spirit is with us and upon us always.

Acts 5:27_32 When they had brought them, they had them stand before the council. The high priest questioned them, saying, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and you are determined to bring this man's blood on us." But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than any human authority. The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
