We
extend a special welcome to all visitors, who are requested not to put money in
the collection plate. Those who attend
this church regularly have committed their time and resources so that you can
be our guests. Immediately following

Opening Song #2128 Come and Find the Quiet Center
Call to Worship:
L:
Jesus the good shepherd
has called us to be his flock, and we are gathered here as sheep of Christ's
fold, followers of Christ's making.
C: Listening, we
hear the shepherd's voice, trusting, we seek to do the shepherd's will.
L:
Let us give thanks and
praise to Jesus who calls and names us his own, and worship God who has
provided us with a shepherd to love, lead, and keep us in safety.
*Opening Song #23
Make a Joyful Noise (see insert)
*INVOCATION
Caring God,
we worship you for your everlasting goodness to your people. When we were lost,
you sent Jesus your Son to be the shepherd of our souls, to bring us home to
you. He shared our earthly life, claimed us and named us his own flock. Knowing
our human need for ongoing counsel and comfort, challenge and companionship,
you raised him from death, to be with us forever in the Spirit. Receive our
grateful praise, and help us to faithfully follow him who is a faithful
shepherd to us.
*The Lords Prayer
Our Father,
Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever. Amen
*Assurance of Pardon
Christ has assured us in his living, dying, and rising
that nothing can separate us from the love and forgiveness of God. The good
shepherd knows us each by name, and we remain sheep of his fold both in our
sinfulness and our repentance. For God has entrusted us to him who will never
let us go! Thanks be to God!
*Act of Praise
(to #312 Hail the Day
)
Praise
to Father, Spirit, Son, Alleluia!
to whom
pow'r and might belong, Alleluia!
give God
glory, give God thanks, Alleluia!
what was
promised has been done, Alleluia!
Responsive Reading Psalm 23
L: You are my
shepherd, O God,
I need
nothing more;
you bring
me to rest in quiet places,
to pools of living water you lead me,
and there you revive my soul.
"Guide us and guard us, O God."
You guide
me in right pathways,
as you have promised;
even in dark valleys, you guard my steps;
your visible strength heartens me.
"Guide us and guard us, O God."
You prepare
a banquet for me
in the face of my enemies;
you welcome me as your honored guest;
the oil of gladness is poured on my head;
my cup of blessings overflows;
your goodness and kindness never leave me,
your house
is my home forever.
"Guide us and guard us, O God."

Prayer Concerns
A Service of Holy Communion
L:
Christ our Lord invites
to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to
live in peace with one another.
M:
Merciful God, we
confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient
church. We have not done your will, we
have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our
neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen
N:
Hear the good news:
Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves Gods love toward
us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you
are forgiven.
O:
In the name of
Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
P:
Let us offer one another
signs of reconciliation and love.
L: Come to this
sacred table, not because you must, but because you may; come to testify not
that you are righteous, but that you sincerely love our lord Jesus Christ, and
desire to be his true disciples; come not because you are strong, but because
you are weak; not because you have any claim on the grace of God, but stand in
constant need of his mercy and help; come to seek the presence and Spirit of
Christ.
Prayer of Blessing
Pour
out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here and on these gifts of bread and
wine. Make them be for us the body and
blood of Christ that we may be for the world the Body of Christ redeemed by his
blood. By your spirit make us one with
Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ
comes in final victory and we feast at his heavenly banquet. Through your Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy
Spirit in your holy church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, now
and for ever. Amen.
The Bread and the Cup
The Prayer of Thanksgiving
Bountiful
God, we give you thanks that you have refreshed us at your table by granting us
the presence of Christ. Strengthen our
faith, increase our love for one another, and send us into the world in courage
and peace, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 10:22-30: At the time the festival of the Dedication took place
in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the
portico of Solomon. So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, "How
long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us
plainly." Jesus answered, "I have told you, and you do not believe.
The works that I do in my Father's name testify to me; but you do not believe,
because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and
they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one
will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than
all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father's hand. The Father and I
are one."
