Prayers for Worship
Advent 1C
by Linda Kraft

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs.

Saving Lord, you instruct us according to our sinful ways; grant us pardon for our transgressions as you have promised through your steadfast love and faithfulness. Help us to hold fast to your covenant and look for the fulfillment of your promises yet to come. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Psalm 25:1-10)

Righteous Lord, come quickly and heal your people's warring madness. Restore peace in our time as you promised to your people Israel and Judah. Bring safety and wholeness to all people. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Jeremiah 33:14-16)

Generous Lord, increase our concern for those less fortunate than ourselves and show us how to share your unbounded love for all your children. Help us to find it in our hearts to give from the bounty you have provided us so that others may have enough to live. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (1 Thess 3:9-13)

Coming Lord, you have promised to return in power, majesty and glory. As you came to the people in Jerusalem during your final days of life on this earth, come again to all who need your healing touch, especially...

Are there others we should lift in prayer?

Send us ahead of you to prepare your way so that those who need healing will be ready to receive you. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Luke 19:28-40)

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all those for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
