Prayers for Worship
by Linda Kraft

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs:

God of resurrection hope, you offer courage to all who are in despair. You offer new life to all who mourn. You call your servants to work acts of kindness in your name. Use us, as your willing servants, to offer your courage, new life and kindness to each one we meet. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Acts 9:36-43)

God of all nations and every people, your promise of eternity without hunger or thirst, without mourning and pain is one that needs to be heard in every land. Bring your spring of the water of life to all who live in fear. Break down the barriers that divide us. Remove our fear and prejudice and make us one in you. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Rev 7:9-17)

God of all seasons, your reign is endless and your love is eternal. You have called us into your flock and you will never let go of us. Even if we turn away, you will not let anyone snatch us out of your hand. We pray for those who do not yet know they are living within in your inclusive love. Help us to look at each person as one of your own. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (John 10:22-30)

God of green pastures and dark valleys, you offer hope to all who call upon you. We lift these needy souls for your care: ...

Are there others we should include in our prayers?

Even though they may walk through the darkest valleys, we know you can guide them with your comforting peace. Anoint them with your overflowing blessings. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Ps 23)

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
