Prayers for Worship
Proper 9
by Linda Kraft
Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs. Spirit of God, forgive our stubbornness and impudence. Bring your prophetic presence into our hearts and make us eager listeners so that we might be instructed in your ways and cling to them. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Ezek 2:1-5) Merciful God, bring your justice into this troubled world. Guide leaders of nations so that they may make wise decisions on behalf of those they rule. Make us ever mindful of your bountiful love for every people on this earth. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Psalm 123) Graceful Lord, you know our every weakness, and you know what makes us unduly proud. Temper us with mercy, so that we might see your hand guiding our way and others will glorify you because of your mercy to us all. Make us strong in faith through every challenge. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (2 Cor 12:2-10) Healing Lord, take away our unbelief and heal our hearts and souls so that we might be your own. Grant healing of mind, body and spirit to ... Are there others we should include in our prayers? Come among us and help us to honor you in every place we are called to serve. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Mark 6:1-13) Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
