Prayers for Worship
Prayers for Worship
Epiphany 2
by Linda Kraft

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs.

Persistent God, you never give up on us. We pray that you will continue to call us, loudly, waking us up to your presence so that we might eagerly answer your call. Raise us up as leaders in this world so that everyone might know this, too, is your kingdom. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (1 Samuel 3:1-10)

All-knowing God, from before we were formed you knew us. Each person in this world is your coreation. Remind us to show respect for all your children so that prejudice, hatred, jealousy and fighting might end. Instill in us your Spirt of peace and kinship. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Psalm 139: 1-5, 12-17)

Loving God, you committed yourself to an eternal relationship with us. Strengthen us to keep OUR promises to one antoher so that those we love may depend on us to be faithful. Help us re-commit ourselves to wholesome lives that announce to the world that we are redeemed by you. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (1 Cor 6:12-20)

All-seeing God, as you did with Nathanael, you see us through and through and know our inner-most needs. Only you can heal the brokenness that threatens us in body, mind and spirit. Be present with these we name today...

Are there others we should include in our prayers?

Send your angels to minister to the needs of your children. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (John 1:43-51)

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
