With Children
Childrens
Time might relate to the John 3:117 scripture, particularly verse 8, The wind
blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where
it comes from or where it goes. Use a fan to explain the mystery of the Spirit
moving among us. It can be gentle or powerful, as in tornadoes.
Sermon Starter
Psalm
29 shares the image of holiness over the waters and the power of Gods voice
as tongues of fire. Traditional Cree teachings offer that women are keepers of
the water, which is life-giving. Men are keepers of the fire, which is for
sustenance and safety. Both water and fire are referred to in biblical images
of cleansing. There are ceremonies of purification that instruct us to worship
in Spirit because of a lingering sense of inadequacy of the flesh. What are
the relationships we have with water and fire? How are they instruments of
cleansing for us today?
