Prayers for Worship
Prayers for Worship
Advent 4
by Linda Kraft

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs:

Emmanuel, Lord be with us. We long for your coming again to each of us. We crave your presence in our daily lives. Comfort us when we mourn. Uplift us when we're in pain. Encircle us with your love. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Luke 1:26-38)

Coming Lord, we await your power in our lives, power that enables us to tell others of your love. Send us out in your name to spread the good news of your birth. Help us to reach out to others in your name. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Ps 89:1-4, 19-26)

Comforting Lord, we ask your presence with those who live in fear, in poverty or in disgrace. Take away their sadness and turn their darkness into day. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (2 Sam 7:1-11, 16)

Great God, you are able to strengthen the weak according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but is now disclosed in Jesus Christ your son. Be with those we name today who need your tender touch. We especially remember...

Are there others we should include in our prayers?

Gather them in your loving arms. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Romans 16:25-27)

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
