Prayers for Worship
Prayers for Worship
Proper 13
by Linda Kraft

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs:

Great Provider, at twilight and in the morning you know our needs. Everything we have is a gift from you. Keep us from being greedy and demanding more than our share. Give us the courage to generously give from our bounty so others may live. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Exodus 16:2-4, 9-15)

Powerful Lord, you command the skies above and rain down your blessings on all lands. From east to west you bless all people with your grace. Strengthen those who work tirelessly for justice. Empower governments that respect human rights and bring your light to those nations that struggle with the concept of freedom. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Psalm 78:23-29)

Gracious God, you have called us to be part of your body, one in your Spirit of hope. You have given us gifts and equipped us for the work of ministry. Strengthen us as we learn to follow you. Send us to tell others of your love. Raise up faithful pastors and teachers who will build up the body of Christ. We pray for the churches and schools in all lands. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Ephesians 4:1-16)

Creator God, you sent your Son as bread from heaven to give life to the world. By his hand many were healed. We lift our loved ones for your healing touch. ...

Are there others we should include in our prayers?

Help us to understand your will as it moves through our lives so that we might see your compassion and receive eternal life.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. (John 6:24-35)

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
