PENTECOST 26a – Proper 28

PENTECOST 26a – Proper 28
by Linda Kraft

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, for all people according to their needs: Eternal Shepherd, we give you thanks that you continually seek us out and guide us back into your flock. Raise up faithful leaders among your people. Give them courage to speak in your name on behalf of justice for all. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Ezekiel 34) Great God, rock of our salvation, in your wisdom you have formed us and all that exists. Make us always thankful for the blessings you have bestowed on us and help us to share them with all your children. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Psalm 95:1-7a) God our Sovereign, your rule of justice and mercy is the pattern for all good governments in our world. We pray for those in power in all nations that they might lead by example, make decisions with mercy, and rule with your guidance. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Ephesians 1:15-23) God of the hungry, the naked, the thirsty, of all who appear to be outside your grace, lead us to see your face in all whom we meet; that, guided by the example of your Son, Jesus, we may recognize our brothers and sisters within your family of love. Today we lift in prayer these, your children, who need your healing touch... Are there others we should include in our prayers? Use our hands and voices to make known your gracious goodness. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. (Matt 25:31-46) Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
