Easter 6b Intercessions

Intercessions Easter 6B by Allison Cline-Dean
Gracious and loving God, your Son Jesus has laid down his life and called us his friends, and you have promised to give whatever we ask you in Christ's name: hear our prayers for the whole human family and for the world. The introduction to the response is “Lord change my heart” and the reply is “that I may follow where you lead me.”

We pray that your faithful people, being chosen by your grace and sealed in baptism, may always proclaim your greatness by their deeds of love. Bless and guide those who work for the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. *Lord change my heart. . *.

We pray that the power of love may overcome the anger and bitterness that divides people and nations, remembering all nations as they try to find a way to deal with the hatred and fear caused by bombings, conflict and war. We pray Lord that you will guide and protect our troops stationed throughout the world. We pray that those who have died for their country in time of war may be remembered with honour in time of peace. Send your Holy Spirit to heal all divisions and to make known your Love which is revealed in Jesus Christ. *Lord change my heart . . . *

We pray that you will help us to be gracious and loving in our relationships, that we may show ourselves to be those whom Jesus calls his friends. We hold in our hearts and prayers the parish families, including . . . Keep our families faithful to follow Jesus’ commandment of love. Lord change my heart . . .

We pray Lord, that you will have mercy on those who cannot love because they have never known love. Visit with new life the outcast and neglected of our society. We pray that those who suffer chronic illness feel in their caregivers the loving presence of Jesus. We pray for those who are sick or homebound, remembering today . . . May the risen Christ visit them with healing power and new hope. *Lord change my heart* . . .

We pray and give thanks for those who were called to be followers and friends of Jesus Christ in this world. Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them. *Lord change my heart . . . *

Change our hearts Lord so that we may follow you and bear fruit that will last: honour the faithful prayers of your people, that all the earth may abide in your love and know the joy of your friendship, through Jesus Christ our Lord. *Amen.*
